The new presentation of the collection, More Than Ever! The Collection, integrates high-profile acquisitions, donations and loans from recent years into the existing exemplary holdings and initiates a multifaceted dialogue about times, spaces and artistic individualities. The collections of late Gothic sculpture, Baroque landscapes and portraits that define the museum's identity, as well as the works of Ewald Mataré and Joseph Beuys, will be on display alongside significant examples of the classical avant-garde and contemporary art. Sculptures by seeral artists, among them by Franka Hörnschemeyer, will be shown publicly for the first time. The presentation will be flanked by two thematic areas: one dedicated to the work of Dutch typographer Walter Nikkels, who, as an architectural visionary, contributed decisively to the unique transformation of the Kurhaus into a museum, and the other to a selection of works from the ceramic holdings of the Werner Steinecke Collection, focused on the pleasure of enjoyment.
