Julian Irlinger's exhibition "Verirrte Zeiger", examines the history of hand-drawn animation and reflects on the “Disneyfication” of historical narratives. Irlinger focuses in particular on Ludwig II of Bavaria, whose Neuschwanstein Castle served as inspiration for the “Sleeping Beauty” castle in Disneyland. He draws parallels between Ludwig II and Walt Disney, who both used technological innovations to create illusionary worlds that detached themselves from reality and made new forms of staging possible.
