Katharina Sieverding / Gammel Strand, Kopenhagen, Denmark

Solo Exhibition
The spectacular video work Life–Death (1969) is presented at Gammel Strand. The film is marked by an experimental approach: it was recorded without a script and features music by the cult band Kraftwerk. Just as the title links life and death with a hyphen, the work celebrates oppositions and fluid transitions – between night and day, between genders, and between life and death.

You are invited to celebrate the opening of Katharina Sieverding’s exhibition Life-Death with an evening of art and conversation on Thursday, March 5 at from 4 to 8 pm.
At 5 pm Director Nanna Hjortenberg will give the opening speech, followed by a talk moderated by curator Mai Dengsøe featuring artist Esben Weile Kjær and museum curator Rune Finseth. Together, they will reflect on Sieverding’s lasting impact on pop art and feminism. From the pulse of West Germany in 1969 to today’s reflections on identity and artistic self-staging, the evening moves across generations and ideas.
