Once a year, the exhibition Kunstkammer Gegenwart is reorganized, this time in its third iteration. Each time, a central theme serves as the guiding principle for selecting works from the contemporary collections of the Dresden State Art Collections. The third iteration of the exhibition is dedicated to the concept of abstraction. Abstraction can be regarded as the first major breakthrough in 20th-century visual art. Yet the works on display here do not represent artistic creation entirely devoid of any connection to the real world.
