Issues of law and justice are too important to be left solely to lawyers and philosophers. That is why, in his series of events, Wolfgang Kaleck gives a platform to diverse voices from various fields and regions—recognizing that justice can only be achieved through social processes based on the division of labor. Fundamental topics as well as responses to current events find a place in discursive and performative formats.
This concerns the core principles of international law and human rights. Because defending these principles is already a daunting task in these dark times, visions that go beyond them are developed as concrete utopias—despite this, or perhaps precisely because of it.
To kick off the series November 7, 2026, Chilean artist Alfredo Jaar and art historian Florencia San Martin will be the first guests. Drawing on the concepts of grief, accountability, and failure, they will discuss the commonalities between artistic creation and human rights work.
