Water is a source of life, a myth, and a mirror of social developments. In times of ecological crises and global change, the UM Festival 2025 is dedicated to the element of water – as a resource, symbol, and artistic material.
Iris Schomaker's paintings take us on a journey without a predetermined path, into landscapes that are both familiar and strange. The images line up, shapes and contours meet, merge. Drawings create connections, sometimes pairings: the swimmer enters the landscape, captured in motion, reaching beyond the boundaries of the picture.
