From 42 applications submitted at the suggestion of 50 internationally renowned artists, critics and curators and admitted to the competition, the jury invited eight artists to the final. The prize will be awarded for the sixth time in 2023 and, with prize money of 20,000 euros and its own catalog publication, is one of the most valuable German artist prizes. An individual artistic achievement that expresses an independently found and consistently pursued theme is to be honored.
