Angela de la Cruz / Kunstverein Dresden e.V., Germany

Solo Exhibition

BARRICADE DRESDEN fits in a unique way with the Kunstverein’s annual theme, “The Body….” Angela de la Cruz, an artist originally from Spain who lives in London, treats the body not merely as a motif, but as a lived reality that is directly inscribed in material, form, and space. Her works revolve around fragility, resistance, and transformation, vividly bringing physical experience to light.

This artistic practice is shaped by the artist’s own life story: Following a severe stroke, Angela de la Cruz lives with significant physical limitations. This experience is not recounted illustratively in her works, but rather made structurally tangible. Against the backdrop of current debates on visibility and participation, the exhibition offers a multifaceted perspective on the body as a site of vulnerability, change, and perseverance. The result is an exploration of the conditions of human existence that is both personal and universal.
